NOTE: The upgrade process is not really that complicated, but I didn't
want to leave out ANY steps. Please DON'T LEAVE OUT ANY STEPS! It would
probably be a good idea to print this file.
*********** Upgrade from Easy Address 2.0 to 2.2 ***************
1. Unpack the contents of the archive to your Easy Address directory
2. Change to that directory and run EASYADD CONFIG to use the new
configuration program to setup Easy Address. A file named
EASYADD.CFG will be created. EASYCOLR.DAT and most of the command
line arguments are no longer used.
3. Load the Synchronet Configuration program (SCFG) and alter the command
line for EASYADD and EASYADDF to ONLY have one command line parameter,
the FILE or EMAIL parameter.
e.g. EASYADD FILE for EASYADDF external program
EASYADD EMAIL for EASYADD external program
(Optional)
4. Add the command *EASY%# to the Clean Up command Line of EASYADD and
EASYADDF. If you do this, you will have to remove the EXEC EASY%#
line from your BAJA source files.
5. Edit the new file ADDRESS.DAT, this is a default list of addresses that
each user will get the first time they run Easy Address. See the
documentation for more details. A samlple file is included in the
archive called ADDRESS.SAM
6. If you are using the GUUCP gateway at 1:1/31, that gateway is closing down
on March 1st. Please see the EASYADD.DOC File for information about
using a GUUCP gateway at 1:13/10.
NOTE: I have gone to a new Registration Key System. All registered users
are in my database, if you are a registered user and have not received
a valid 20 character registration code, please contact me and I will
send the new code to you ASAP.
*********** Upgrade from Easy Address 2.0 to 2.0b ***************
- Simply copy the DOC files and EXE to your easy address directory
*********** Upgrade from Easy Address 1.0 to 2.0 ***************
(if you already have the old beta, skip to the Beta upgrade section)
1. Make sure users are not in Easy Address
2. Copy all files from 2.0 archive to the 1.0 directory
3. Change to the EASYADD directory
e.g. cd \sbbs\xtrn\easyadd <ENTER>
4. Run EASYUP TOTAL where TOTAL is your total number of users. This will
upgrade the USER[#].ADD files to the new EZ[#].ADD file format.
e.g. EASYUP 450 <ENTER>
5. Delete the USER[#].ADD files. They are not used with 2.0.
e.g. del USER*.ADD <ENTER>
6. Write down the command line from your RUN.BAT file in the Easy Address
directory.
e.g. EASYADD c:\sbbs\ %1 000000 1:1/31 TZ=CST6EDT
7. Go into SCFG->External Programs->External Programs->EASYADD
Version 2.0 uses TWO DIFFERENT command line parameters,
so please use the following format and forget about the RUN.BAT
Parameter 1 - FULL PATH TO EXEC DIRECTORY (NOT SBBS PATH)
2 - EMAIL or FILE (NOT NODE NUMBER)
3 - Registration code (SAME)
4 - Full GUUCP address, SUUCP or NONE (SAME)
5 - TZ Variable (SAME)
For the example in Step 6, the command line for EASYADD 2.0 changes
from RUN.BAT %# to:
EASYADD %! EMAIL 000000 1:1/31 TZ=CST6EDT
6. Go into your command shell BAJA code and replace EXEC_BIN EASYADD with:
EXEC_XTRN EASYADD
EXEC *EASY%#
7. If you want to customize the colors, see the file EASYCOLR.DAT! You must
also edit your fidonet, internet and/or QWK addresses in this file.
(It's well documented, and if you mess up the colors, just delete
it and a new EASYCOLR.DAT file will be created)
8. You may delete the EASYADD.BIN, EASYADD.SRC and EASYSRC.EXE files from the
SBBS\EXEC directory and the Easy Address directory if you wish. They
are no longer needed.
9. Print the REGISTER.DOC file, fill it out and either snail-mail or
e-mail it to me so I have all the information needed for my records.
This is a FREE upgrade (unless you just want to give me some money),
but I would like to have the information in the REGISTER.DOC file.
If you haven't already registered, please notice that the
registration cost has risen to $20 US.
10, If you want to use Easy Address with fidonet and internet file attaches
see the next section.
All Done! Go be amazed at Easy Address 2.0 and Thank You for the support!
******************** FOR FILE ATTACHES! ********************
If you wish to have internet (NetXpress only) or fidonet file attach
support with Easy Address you must do a few more things.
1. Copy the External Program EASYADD to a new slot using the GET and PUT
commands. Change the internal code of the new External Program
to EASYADDF
2. Edit the command line of EASYADDF and replace EMAIL with FILE. By having
file attaches separate from the E-Mail, you can define ARS just for
file attaches.
3. Edit Your BAJA Source like the following:
Replace the MAIL_SEND_NETFILE with these two lines:
EXEC_XTRN EASYADD
EXEC *EASY%#
4. Recompile your BAJA code.
e.g. BAJA DEFAULT.SRC
Now if the user chooses yes to the file attach question and picks an Internet
or fidonet address he/she will be prompted for the filename to attach to
the message. Try it, I think you'll like it. 8-)
****************** UPGRADING FROM 2.0 BETA A to 2.0 ****************
1. Backup your EASYCOLR.DAT file. A new file is included with this
archive that has support for the user's internet, fidonet,
and QWK addresses.
2. Edit the new EASYCOLR.DAT file if you want custom colors or wish
to specify your systems fidonet, internet, and QWK addresses.
3. Edit all of your command shell sources that you use Easy Address with
and change the EXEC_BIN EASYADD to:
EXEC_XTRN EASYADD
EXEC *EASY%#
change the EXEC_BIN EASYADDF to:
EXEC_XTRN EASYADDF
EXEC *EASY%#
4. Delete the EASYADD.BIN, EASYADD.SRC, EASYADDF.BIN, EASYADDf.SRC and
EASYSRC.EXE files if you wish. They are no longer used.
